Strategic Commissioning Forums

Our monthly integration forum in January focused on strategic commissioning. On the day you told us that having a similar event in different parts of Scotland would be helpful for you, your colleagues and peers. In response we have organised a series of regional events focused on strategic commissioning. Here are the dates and venues and a link to more information and a booking form:

March Integration Forum  Tuesday 21st March, Dundee

As usual we will be discussing all things integration but this month we will have a particular focus on workforce so that you have the opportunity to discuss the Scottish Government's Health and Social Care Workforce Planning Discussion Document.

The forum is open to anyone with an interest in health and social care integration, and will run from 1pm - 3pm, with lunch and teas/coffees being served at 12.30pm. Places are free but limited, so please do book your space early and let us know of any accessibility or dietary requirements in advance.

April Integration Forum - Tuesday 11th April, Edinburgh

As well as discussing all things integration our April integration Forum will have a particular focus on data & evidencing progress. We would like to explore with you:

  • What is captured currently?
  • What is being reported to partnerships?
  • What is it used for and what data is used well?
  • What data is currently not collected that may be useful?
  • How do we know if Partnerships are doing well and how the third sector contributes, and how do we tell that story?
  • How are partnerships sharing their stories of success and good news with people?

The forum is open to anyone with an interest in health and social care integration, and will run from 1pm - 3pm, with lunch and teas/coffees being served at 12.30pm. Teas and coffees will be served at the meeting. Places are free but limited, so please do book your space early and let us know of any accessibility or dietary requirments in advance.

Working with the Sector - illustrating what works

A few weeks ago we started capturing stories that illustrate strategies and approaches that have enabled the sector's involvement to help illustrate 'what works' in our response to the Health and Sport Committee. We have decided that building a bank of these for Partnerships to access would be helpful moving forward and hence plan to keep this as an ongoing component of our work. If you have a story to share please email us or call  the ALLIANCE on 0141 424 0231 and ask to speak to one of the team.

Health and Sport Committee Call for Evidence - Integration Authorities Engagement with Stakeholders (closes Wednesday 8th March 2017)

The Health and Sport Committee recently issued a call for evidence to inform their engagement inquiry. They are seeking written evidence in relation to the following questions:-

  • Any areas where the Strategic Planning Group has been enabled to create a difference?
  • What involvement would you like to have in the work in localities as it progresses?
  • Do you have good examples of how and where your involvement with the IAs has had an impact on decision making?
  • What could be done to improve the communication from the IAs?
  • What could be done to ensure greater collaboration and engagement in the decision making process of Integration Authorities?

You can find out more about the inquiry here.

We are still finalising our response so we will share it in our next issue.

National Health and Social Care Workforce Plan - Discussion Document

The responses to this discussion document will inform the National Health and Social Care Workforce Plan which is due to be published this Spring. It sets out the Scottish Government's ideas on workforce planning at national regional and local level and asks questions about a number of key areas including governance, workforce planning roles, workforce data and recruiting and retaining staff.

More information available here - deadline for responses 28th March.

Our Integration Forum covering the workforce discussion document will feed in to the Third Sector Health and Social Care Team Response.
