Integration Update
 

We are still working to finalise our scoping report and hope to have this ready by early September.

We have already pulled out what you told us we should be prioritising and have used this to create a high level work plan so that we can begin progressing the implementation work.

Given the evolving nature of the landscape, this is, however, only a starter for ten, so have a look and let us know if you think something else needs added.

Third Sector Learning Set

We will be running a Third Sector Learning Set at Stirling Court Hotel (previously known as Stirling Management Centre) on Thursday 13th October from 9.30am - 4pm. A draft version of the event programme can be found here, and includes bite-sized training sessions on some of the key topic areas identified during the scoping exercise. Places are limited so sign up now if you want to be sure to secure a place.

Consultations & Redesign Activities in Partnerships
 

Glasgow City - The IJB have launched a consultation on their Participation and Engagement Strategy. The Strategy outlines the principles and approach that they will take to engaging with individuals, groups and communities when undertaking service planning and service development  activities. The consultation information includes a copy of the strategy; slides illustrating the different engagement structures they are proposing to use; and a link to an online survey and response form so that you can submit your thoughts and comments. The consultation runs until Friday 16th September.

Health and Sport Committee

The Committee has published the written responses to their mental health call for evidence, their recruitment and retention call for evidence, and their integrated joint boards survey. We will shortly be circulating briefings on the latter.

Transformational Mental Health Strategy Required

The ALLIANCE has responded to the Scottish Parliament Call for Evidence by calling for a Commission to consider future Mental Health Strategy in Scotland. Read the response in full on the ALLIANCE website.

People Powered Health and Wellbeing Event and Surveys
People Powered Health & Wellbeing (PPHW) delivered an innovative event about co-production for health and social care integration on Monday 22nd August, taking the first steps towards developing a national strategy for co-production.

PPHW are keen to hear your views to help develop a future programme of work to support Health and Social Care Partnerships put co-production into practice in their work.

Scotland's Regeneration Forum Publish Jargon Busting Summary of the Scottish Planning Review

Scotland's Regeneration Forum have published a 'jargon busting review' of the Scottish Government's July response for action regarding the Scottish Planning system, comparing it with the findings and recommendations from a substantial independent review, published in May this year. 

Mapping the Employability Landscape for People with Learning Disabilities

The Scottish Commision for Learning Disability have commissioned research on behalf of Scottish Government to better understand the scale and effectiveness of employability support for people with learning disabilities in Scotland. In terms of employment, people with learning disabilities appear to be the most disadvantaged group in Scotland.

Voluntary Sector Development Funding

Voluntary Sector Development Funding supports a range of voluntary organisations providing social services which are registered with the Care Inspectorate. Small and Medium Organisations are particularly encouraged to apply. Find further information and application details here - open until 2nd September 2016.

People power to help design GP digital services

A ground-breaking 'co-design' project (Our GP) has been launched to support people across Scotland to develop their ideas for the future of GP online sevices. The project is funded by Scottish Government and is being run by the ALLIANCE alongside co-design agency mHabitat.

ASH Scotland is seeking partner organisations on dementia awareness campaign

ASH Scotland is seeking partner organisations to work with them on an awareness raising campaign, highlighting how positive lifestyle changes can reduce the risk of developing dementia. They are keen to find ways for organisations to be able to align this with existing workplans, thus nullifying cost implications.  Find out more here.

Consultations and Surveys
 

Mental Health

The Scottish Government has now published a paper (easy read), which reflects what has been heard and considered so far in relation to the new 10 year mental health strategy and is seeking responses - until 16 September.

consultation for implementation of certain sections of the Mental Health Act (Scotland) 2015 and associated regulations open until 17th October.

Support in Mind Scotland and Scotland's Rural College are running a survey to discover what it’s like to live with mental ill health in the country’s rural areas.

NHS

NHS Lanarkshire have launched a consultation on their new healthcare strategy, 'Achieivng Excellence'. The consulation will be open until 1st November.

NHS Fife have launched a 12 week consultation on their clinical strategy. The Clinical Strategy is NHS Fife’s vision for the next five years and beyond.​

Children and Young People

The Scottish Government have launched a consultation for the Child Poverty Bill. The Bill, to be introduced next year, will build on existing work and form part of the overall approach to tackling poverty and inequality in Scotland - open until 30th September.

Social Security / Welfare Reform 

consultation on social security in Scotland (summarised version), which is seeking views on the benefits being devolved, and is the first step towards the creation of the Scottish Government's own social security system - open until 28th October.

Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland Survey

Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland are running a survey to identify the perceived training needs of staff working in care homes or care agencies, or who care for people who have had a stroke. The survey will run until the 5th September and results will be shared with the Scottish Stroke AHP Forum and Scottish Care.

  • The Scottish Parliament Information Centre (SPICe) have produced a briefing on Integration of Health and Social Care. This briefing describes how the legislation is being implemented and examines key issues for the integration agenda.
  • Measuring Up! is a straightforward, step-by-step self-assessment tool that allows you to review and improve your organisation's impact practice. The tool is free to use, however registration is required.
  • Include Us All is an inclusive communications hub developed by a consortium from the Scottish Accessible Information Forum and the Scottish Disability Equality Forum, and is aimed at anyone with an interest in improving their inclusive communication tools and processes.

    NHS Health Scotland and Young Scot are hosting a series of half-day engagement events to gather views on the Scottish Government's 10 year vision to transform mental health.
  • Commissioning for Complexity - 6th September, 10am - 4pmDundee. This event aims to start the conversation on strategic commissioning for children and young people with complex needs.
  • Shaping the future - 13th September, 9.15 - 3.30pm, Dunfermline
    This event is aimed at those looking to find out more about sources and how to access data or support, and looking at examples of best practice to help shape the future of intelligence for health and social care integration.
  • Let's Collaborate for Impact - 13th September, 10am - 4pm, Edinburgh.This event is for the third sector, academia and brokers who are interested in collaboration.
  • iamsocialwork SUPER:vision​ - 14th September, 6.30-9.30pm, Glasgow. This event for social workers is a networking and support evening, featuring keynote speakers, workshops and networking opportunities.
  • Challenging Inequities in Palliative Care - 15th September, 9.30am - 12pm, Edinburgh. This event looks at the inequities and barriers people face when accessing palliative care.
  • Third Sector Health and Social Care Support Team - Learning Set - 13th October, 9.30am - 4pm, Stirling. This event will provide bite-sized training sessions on some of the key topic areas identified during the Team's scoping exercise.
  • Strengthening the Links - 26th October, 9.30am-3.30pm, Edinburgh. This event is aimed at those who have an interest in workforce issues related to health and social care integration, including HR/OD, and workforce leads across health and social care, including the third and independent sectors.
