Programme Update

Strategic Commissioning Forums

Our monthly integration forum in January focused on strategic commissioning. On the day you told us that having a similar event in different parts of Scotland would be helpful for you, your colleagues and peers. In response we have organised a series of regional events focused on strategic commissioning. Here are the dates and venues and a link to more information and a booking form:

NEW! Integration 101 - Tuesday 11th April, 10.30am - 12.30pm (teas and coffees available from 10am), Edinburgh Quaker House.

Finding Health and Social Care Integration confusing? Do you want to understand how integration is progressing across Scotland?

Following huge demand, our Integration 101 sessions will be going back to basics - from the implementation of the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014 to where we are now and beyond. This short informal session will cover the policy context and aspirations, alongside the current national picture and what some of the challenges and opportunities will be over the coming years. It will also provide an opportunity for table-top discussions with participants and informal networking.

We will also be holding an afternoon Integration Forum in which we will be discussing data and evidencing process in Health and Social Care Integration, particularly in lieu of the forthcoming performance reports (by end of July 2017).

This event will be taking place on Tuesday 11th April with a 10am for 10.30am start. Teas and coffees will be available on arrival, and lunch will be available after the session at 12.30pm. Places are free but limited, so please do book early to secure your place. Please also advise of any dietary requirements by emailing comms.coordinator@alliance-scotland.org.uk.

April Integration Forum - Tuesday 11th April, Edinburgh 1pm - 3pm, Edinburgh Quaker House

Following our Integration 101 session in the morning (n.b. you can book for both the morning and the afternoon session if you wish); our April integration Forum will have a particular focus on data & evidencing progress. We would like to explore with you:

  • What is captured currently?
  • What is being reported to partnerships?
  • What is it used for and what data is used well?
  • What data is currently not collected that may be useful?
  • How do we know if Partnerships are doing well and how the third sector contributes, and how do we tell that story?
  • How are partnerships sharing their stories of success and good news with people?

The forum is open to anyone with an interest in health and social care integration, and will run from 1pm - 3pm, with lunch and teas/coffees being served at 12.30pm. Teas and coffees will be served at the meeting. Places are free but limited, so please do book your space early and let us know of any accessibility or dietary requirments in advance.

Working with the Sector - illustrating what works

A few weeks ago we started capturing stories that illustrate strategies and approaches that have enabled the sector's involvement to help illustrate 'what works' in our response to the Health and Sport Committee. We have decided that building a bank of these for Partnerships to access would be helpful moving forward and hence plan to keep this as an ongoing component of our work. If you have a story to share please email us or call  the ALLIANCE on 0141 424 0231 and ask to speak to one of the team.

ALLIANCE Calls on Health and Sport Committee to look beyond consultation on integration

The ALLIANCE has called on the Scottish Parliament's Health and Sport Committee to broaden its consultation on Health and Social Care Integration; to consider the extent to which people who use support and services are being enabled to co-produce health and social care integration, rather than being consulted after the fact. The ALLIANCE also noted a range of views gathered through research by the Third Sector Health and Social Care Support Team and the Self Management Network Scotland; who noted many Third Sector Advocates are still not embedded within the decision making process. Read the full ALLIANCE response to the Health and Sport Committee here.
